The Christ of Christmas

This is a very late upload. I posted this short article on my FB post last December amidst the flurry of activities in our City that focus on pushing for people’s agenda rather than Christ’s. It doesn’t matter though, whether it’s December or not. The story of Christ is relevant the whole year round.

Hope you enjoy reading!

The Bible, God’s Word, talks about God’s LOVE. It’s a book that comforts, consoles, and strengthens.

But the Bible also tells us that foremost, God is HOLY and JUST. He absolutely hates sin and He will judge all of us accordingly. The Word of God rebukes and exposes our sins but also shows us the right way to go.

I have been rebuked many times by God’s Word. I cry every now and then whenever I read a verse that makes me realize I have been letting sin rule over me. That is the nature of God’s Word. Because His Word is TRUTH and the truth HURTS but the truth shall also set us FREE.

“For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and their marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Heb. 4:12

But remember this. God loves ALL of us. Because of His love, He doesn’t want us to WALLOW in our sins. He will redeem us – IF we allow Him.

“What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law, but under grace? Certainly not!”

Romans 6:15

That is the entire point of Christmas – Christ coming to Earth in the form of a man – so that one day He would die on the cross and be the last and ultimate sacrifice to conquer DEATH – spiritual and eternal death.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man cometh to the Father but through Him.

Yes, we all are sinners but let’s accept God’s grace and make Him the MASTER and LORD of our lives. Let us not glory in sin but glorify God.

This Christmas, what are we celebrating? What are we highlighting in our programs and festivities? Are we celebrating CHRIST? Or are we celebrating SIN?
